Do You Know the Truth Behind Indian Astrology ?
Try dividing the country into two groups – those who believe in astrology and those who don’t. You know you will find most people swearing by it. Go ahead and ask a few of them why. The answer you’ll get will have a very common word to them – god. ‘Bhagwan’ in simpler terms determines Indian Astrology Or does it?
Astro-Logy :
Try translating ‘Astrology’ into Hindi. It is the most common language or at least school of languages all branching down from Sanskrit. Ask a common Indian and you’ll get an answer which will literally refer to futuretelling, ‘Vabhishyabani.’
If you too think on this line of thought, you’re gravely mistaken. Astrology is ‘jyotish.’ It is a discourse, just like an engineering or medical degree, in understanding and deciphering the relation between you and the stars. Dating back well into the Vedic ages, jyotishshastra has now become a subject of much debate.
But, whatever you’re reading here is not a debate. Before judging whether astrologers with their degrees and designations can see the future with a few charts you don’t understand, you need to know clear the basic misconceptions inside your mind first.
The Concept of Astrology : Stars Planets and You :
“Any two objects exert a gravitational force of attraction on each other.”
You are just an object, like your mobile, cars, other people etc. So are planets and stars. According to Newton, the Moon has some amount of gravitational force acting on you. The opposite’s also true.
This is the beginning of astrology, ‘Jyotish.’ According to the ancient Vedic thinkers, everything in the universe interlinks. The universe functions as one. It runs on cosmic energy.
So, quite obviously, there is a cosmic relation between you and the stars & planets. This idea forms the basis on whatever a palmist service in Mumbai or anywhere else in India will tell you about.
“But how can they predict my future?”
Now, this is where things start getting debatable. Asking this question is obvious. The answer, as always depends completely on who you’re asking. Most will keep repeating the God word.
You’re better off leaving the conversation there. You will find some elders responsibly mentioning the stars. One thing’s for sure; they will not be able to explain how it works.
If you go over to any Indian astrologers, he/she will ask for 3 basic facts – your DOB along with your time and place of birth.
There are stories of jyotishis scarily matching certain facts and opinions about the individual in front of them. How do they do it? Only they know.
Common words will include Dashas and Ganas along with the obvious Rashis. You need to try understanding something right here. If the 3 facts you give your palmist allows him/her to see your obvious past and your predictable future accurately, there must be some proper reasoning behind it?
Let’s forget the reasoning part of how they do it. Instead, let’s just concentrate on what they do.
Interpretingsome Common Jyotishpoints :
“She has Mangaladosha in her kundli (horoscope). The husband may die early”
This is not something the Best Palmist Counselling in Mumbai or Delhi or Bodhgaya will mention to whoever has taken you there. Here’s a sneak peek for you, a typically Indian misconception.
There are 12 possible houses in any individual’s kundli. As per most astrologers, Mangala Dosha applies to 6 of those houses. Without going into which ones, let’s just make a small calculation.
So if 6 out of 12 houses have this dosha, 50% men will not live long enough to see their grandchildren grow up?
An accurate interpretation of Vedic shastras will show that this Dosha is neither completely irrelevant nor an unavoidable circumstance. Mangal is Mars which embodies courage, strength and other warrior-like qualities. What’s wrong with having a proper fighting spirit? Nothing if the fights worth fighting, if it’s not a lost cause.
You can obviously see that there are certain pointers which come in. If trying to find the truth behind something is an example of a fighting spirit, you may just have Mangaladosha. Why? You still don’t believe in Indian astrology.
Bottom line, you should. There’re quite a few semblances of truth to it, beyond reasoning. Somehow, things match up. Don’t go blindly disbelieving it. That way, you’re just the same as those who blindly do.
